Amanda McKechnie is a member of the firm’s Construction Law Practice Group. She represents clients in the areas of general business, construction defect, business litigation and complex civil litigation. With over two decades of experience in civil litigation with a focus on construction litigation, Amanda has extensive experience representing developers, owners, general contractors, design professionals and subcontractors in all aspects of complex construction litigation. Such disputes can stem from a variety of issues, including delays in project completion, cost overruns, or failure to meet industry standards, all of which fall within her vast knowledge of the industry. Her diverse client base consists of Fortune 500 corporations, regional and local businesses, private individuals and several national insurance carriers.

With a proven ability to analyze complex legal matters quickly, Amanda is trusted by clients to strategically identify, evaluate, and manage all types of claims and litigated matters. Known as a tactical decision-maker and successful negotiator, her experience and keen sensibilities allow her to facilitate cost-effective resolutions while aggressively defending litigated matters in order to best serve her clients’ business interests. With a background in journalism, her communication skills are top-notch, and she prides herself on developing clear, concise, and comprehensive strategic plans that are customized to garner optimal results on behalf of her clients.

Prior to law school, Amanda interned with the United States Senate in Washington D.C. and had several articles published in local newspapers in and around San Diego and Tucson, Arizona. While in law school, Amanda participated in the McGeorge School of Law International Legal Studies program in Salzburg, Austria and was part of the Community Legal Services Clinic which provided pro bono representation to underserved community members.

She has continued her involvement with McGeorge School of Law where she was an alumni board member for several years while volunteering with various community organizations, both locally and internationally, including The Make-A-Wish Foundation, Globe Aware, Unity 4 Orphans and Just Call Us Volunteers. Amanda was born, raised and continues to live in San Diego where you will find her salsa dancing, spending quality time with friends and family, or participating as an international volunteer in Central and South America.

Amanda is admitted to practice in the state of California, and in the Southern, Central, and Eastern federal jurisdictions. In 2018, Amanda had the distinct honor of being sponsored by Associate Justice Anthony M. Kennedy (Ret.) for bar membership in the United States Supreme Court.
