Decedent was suspected to have suffered a stroke at home prior to arrival at the hospital. Physician issued an Order for a repeat CT scan but did not specify that the transport should be on cardiac monitor with a nurse. Hospital’s CT scan was in a separate structure outside of the main hospital and during transport he suffered respiratory distress and it was alleged that appropriate staff was not available to assist in resuscitative efforts requiring his return transport to the main hospital. Decedent never recovered and was eventually made DNR by his family and expired. Ms. Haskins negotiated a qualified (below reportable) confidential settlement on behalf of her physician client prior to her being deposed.
