Plaintiff, a 54 year old woman, claimed in her Complaint that a chair in which she was sitting collapsed and caused her injury. However, defendant’s records reflected that, at the time of the incident, she claimed to have tripped over a yellow speed bump on the roadway between the parking structure and the hospital lobby entrance. She claimed injury to her ankle. She was a visitor on hospital premises. After several changes in handling attorneys for the plaintiff, Ms. Haskins encountered a young, intelligent attorney who agreed to review the file. A detailed and reasonable demand (with evidentiary support) was submitted and defendant paid the demand in full in advance of any depositions or unnecessary law and motion.
