Plaintiff claimed permanent injury and necessity of early retirement as a result of her allegations that a chair, provided to her by an employee of the defendant hospital, slipped out from under her causing her to fall to the floor and sustain injuries to her spine. The chair in question had wheels and is utilized by physicians during examinations – it was not regularly utilized in the provision of patient care. Ms. Haskins successfully negotiated a modest confidential settlement on behalf of her hospital client after taking the deposition of plaintiff’s treating Orthopedic Surgeon who ultimately acquiesced that plaintiff’s surgery was necessary and would have been recommended regardless of the alleged incident.
