Mr. Scordalakis is a partner and a member of the Transportation Law, Fire Litigation, General Liability, Professional Liability and Product Liability practice groups. His practice has focused on defending a broad spectrum of clients, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to regional carriers and businesses, in personal injury, wrongful death, admiralty, premises liability, product liability, property damage, subrogation, and construction defect cases. He handles all facets of litigation through trial in federal and state courts.
Transportation Law
Mr. Scordalakis has represented various companies in trucking/tractor trailer, and multi-vehicle collisions, beverage wholesale, distribution, and import accidents, off-highway heavy equipment repair, dredging operations, and mobile-crane rentals. He is a member of the firm’s rapid-response team for transportation accidents. This team is comprised of legal counsel, expert consultants, field adjusters and investigators, who are available twenty-four hours a day to respond to any transportation emergency to, among other things, conduct an investigation, interview witnesses, inspect the accident scene, secure evidence, and if requested, deal with the media.
Fire Litigation
Mr. Scordalakis has extensive experience defending various clients in fire loss claims, including wildfire litigation, throughout all phases of litigation. Mr. Scordalakis’ experience also includes inspections of fire scenes with origin and cause experts, attending evidence exams with experts of various disciplines, and defending or examining fire experts.
General Liability
Mr. Scordalakis also defends companies in construction defect, and personal injury claims, including a nationwide department store, roofing and waterproofing general contractor, asphalt paving subcontractor, and HEPA Air Filtration Systems installation/maintenance contractor. He has successfully prevailed on summary judgment in favor of general contractor and public entity, and summary adjudication in favor of a subcontractor and international commercial vehicle manufacturer.
Product Liability
Mr. Scordalakis has experience defending companies against product liability claims in various industries, including residential heating systems, construction products, and off-highway heavy equipment.
Professional Liability
Mr. Scordalakis has experience as trial counsel defending professional negligence and breach of fiduciary duty claims involving transactional and corporate law, which includes a recent jury defense verdict in a legal malpractice case alleging in excess of $3 million in damages.
Prior to his career in law, Mr. Scordalakis was a licensed NASD/FINRA representative holding his Series 7, 66, and California Life, Health, and Annuity licenses. He has experience advising existing and new brokerage clients on their financial portfolio, investment allocations and strategies, as well as new financial product offerings.
